Our mission is to enhance the quality of life of seniors by maintaining their independence and dignity.

Seniors First offers the choice, hope and quality care needed for senior independent living.

Founded in 1966, we offer a vital support system to vulnerable, older adults aged 60 and up and adults of all ages living with disabilities. Our mission work began with advocacy and referrals for Central Florida seniors and expanded to Orange County’s Meals on Wheels (MOW) program in 1973. That same year, our congregate meals program—Neighborhood Lunch—was founded, and we have since grown to provide increasingly comprehensive community-based programs. In addition to our nutrition programs, we provide in-home care, medical equipment, a community food pantry and public guardianship to help individuals age in place.

Empowering seniors to remain healthy and independent.

Our supportive services help seniors meet their daily living needs at home, which greatly impacts their health and ability to remain living independently. With community-based assistance, seniors can thrive at home where they are happiest. We are the safety net.

Seniors First offers a vital support system for vulnerable elderly with limited options who would otherwise not have access to or be able to afford services. Any Orange or Seminole County resident age 60 years and older may be eligible for our services. Eligibility requirements vary by program, and some programs require a professional in-home assessment.

The need is growing.

The number of Americans over the age of 65 is expected to more than double over the next three decades. Seniors First knows this is not just a problem in other cities, this issue is on our doorstep as well.  Seniors First has been able to maintain a consistent program of services for over 50 years. But the needs in our community far outweigh available resources.  Federal and state funding alone does not get the job done. Seniors First leverages private contributions to provide services to more seniors, which enables us to reduce our waiting list.  Because of this overwhelming demand, we maintain a constant wait list for most of our programs.  Still, we continue to partner with our community to meet the needs of our senior neighbors.
